iCORDS Data Services

EGI’s Integrated Continent-Ocean Research Data System (iCORDSTM) is a global database and analytic platform that offers data bank and research tool for worldwide energy exploration and geoscience. iCORDS has a rigorous workflow for its database construction, and presents comprehensive quality data in a user-easy product for clients. Currently, iCORDS has two service packages that are available on an annual subscription to our clients. For more information, contact Dr. Rasoul Sorkhabi.

iCORDS Critical Minerals

Critical elements and strategic minerals are increasing becoming a hot topic for research and development (R&D) as well as exploration and production (E&P) efforts worldwide. These elements and minerals play fundamental roles in energy transition and world economy; they also pose critical geological, technological and environmental challenges. The first step in all these efforts is the access to Big Data and Data Analytics. EGI as part of its iCORDS program has been developing a global archive of elemental geochemistry of rocks and fluids both onshore and offshore. The first version of the “Critical Minerals Database,” released April 2022 includes geochemical elemental data of over 400,000 samples worldwide harvested and curated for easy access, query, and data analytics. The database also includes various map layers to place the data in geologic and geographic context.

iCORDS Offshore

This service package includes geoscience data of 12 million samples from 33,000 wells mainly in offshore and deepwater basins. The database includes lithology, stratigraphy, pyrolysis, total organic carbon, mineralogy, and petrophysical properties. In addition, iCORDS Offshore provides over 5 million km seismic lines, 60,000 heat flow data points, as well as various geological and geophysical map layers. Our integrative geoscience data service opens a window onto global offshore exploration and appraisal opportunities.
